About Dr. Caitlyn M. Bennett, Ph.D, LMHC, LMFT, LPC (TX), NCC

Owner of Insightful Mind Counseling Services, LLC

Hello and welcome! My name is Caitlyn Bennett (she/her/hers) and I am grateful that you are here and considering what you need to boost and build your mental health & wellness. Life can be filled with obstacles, pain, and uncertainties. It can also feel scary and overwhelming to think about sharing your personal experiences with someone new. However, you do not have to go about exploring personal pains and uncertainties alone. Taking this first step to begin counseling is one of the most important and courageous steps you can take. Because this is an important step in your personal journey, I want to share just a little bit about my approach and background to help you make an informed choice to engage in counseling with me.

My Approach - Holistic & Helpful: In individual, couples, relationship, and family counseling, it takes a great amount of vulnerability and courage to share about personal difficulties. Because of this, I make it a priority to create a non-judgmental therapeutic relationship and space that infuses elements of trust, safety, and understanding. You are the expert storyteller of your lived experiences and one of my main roles is to empower you to share & unpack burdens.

My style as a counselor is strengths-based, helping you to find and focus on your assets, values, and innate qualities. I often help my clients to: (a) develop awareness and acceptance of difficult experiences; (b) identify and practice skills (like mindfulness) to help you move forward; and (c) identify values-based goals that are important to you. Uncovering and understanding core beliefs (about yourself, others, and the world) that play a large role in how you experience the world can also be a powerful and transformative experience. Because emotional wounds also impact physical well-being, I have found that it is empowering to better understand the connection between how mental health and physical well-being interact with one another. My counseling approach also integrates making sense of how family and societal systems influence your well-being and journey in life. Finally, I believe that humor and laughter can be healing practices and in our therapeutic work, there will be moments where we can share in laughter as you work towards growth, balance, and wellness.

Personal Background: Identities that are important to me include being a partner, mother, daughter, sister, counselor educator, and fierce advocate for others. I am a mother to one tiny human and three fur babes who bring me joy and happiness. I enjoy chill coffee shops, good books, laughter, poetry, meaningful conversations, and kayaking.
